The Software Industry

Software companies, especially Software-As-A-Service, have dominated the economy for the past ten years and have been behind the longest stock market bull run in US history. Austin has been a tech hub since the 1990s, but over the past few years has become regarded as one of the best cities in the United States to live and work. 

Companies based in Oxford offer highly specialized software often created for a certain industry, such as Oxbotica creating software for autonomous vehicles, or Oxehealth developing patient monitoring technology for hospitals.

The Wall Street Journal listed Austin and Nashville as “the Nation’s Hottest Job Markets” in April 20223. Many companies run internship programs and have many hiring positions available straight out of school. Indeed, one of the world’s biggest job listing websites, is based in Austin.
